One of the things I love about the Lowcountry is our overall small town feel and sense of community. Joe, Gray and I, along with some friends attended the Bluffton Christmas Parade yesterday in old-town Bluffton. While Bluffton is just one town over from Hilton Head Island, this parade makes me realize just how small and tight knit our two communities really are.

We have been proud Bluffton parade go’ers for years and years. Before Gray (and marriage) we would bring our to-go bloody marys and wander the streets looking for friends who would be set up for tailgating. A couple years later, we set up shop in front of Peppers Porch, then a couple after that progressively made it down to Bill Herbkersman’s Promenade as it was being developed. We see old and new friends each year and it serves as a great kick off to the Holiday season in the Lowcountry.

As David Lauderdale said in his article today in the Island Packet ” The parade has brought out the town’s silly side since nobody was there to watch it because everybody in town was in it.” Truly, if you were there, you get this….one of the things about Bluffton is that is a bit quirky and odd and very individualistic…and it’s parade reflects that with EVERYONE under the sun in it!

If we missed you this year, we’ll definitely catch up next year! Click here for the video!

With Love From The Lowcountry,
