First off, kudos to the team leading the Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival, more specifically my good friend Tami Bream….proud of you girl! She and her posse of the best – most well-connected, energetic peeps in the Lowcountry put together what will be the best Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival to-date!
If you have not attended this festival, it’s really a “must do” for those living or visiting the Lowcountry. Culminating on Saturday and housed at Historic Honey Horn, under the tents and the oaks, you will find an amazing array of vinos, demonstrations, music, fashion, food, gifts and awesome Island comradely. It’s the place to reconnect with old friends you have not seen in forever (or since last year’s RBC Heritage) and meet new ones as well!
In its 29th year and being presented by Taste of the South Magazine with major sponsorships from the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, Jet Blue, Land Rover Hilton Head, The Savannah-Hilton Head Island Airport and The Westin Hilton Head, this festival has evolved from a one day event to a full week of activities.
On Monday night, March 10th there will be a wine and food tasting paired with a private screening of the movie SOMM – a wine lover’s movie about four men’s quest to take “the most difficult test you’ve NEVER heard of.” Food by my favorite, Redfish, with award winning wines! And just announced – special guest Madeline Triffon, Master Sommelier will be in attendance. Madeline completed her Master Sommelier test in 1985, making her the second woman in the world to ever pass! Find out more info on this special and fun event here.

Friday night is the ever-exclusive Grand Tasting at the Sea Pines Country Club. Set among the marsh in Sea Pines Plantation, this event will feature spectacular sunset views, extraordinary wines and an incredible hors d’oeuvres menu. And perhaps the biggest part of this night is the special guest, Eric Asimov, the chief wine critic for the New York Times will be in attendance. Did you hear that??? THE NEW YORK TIMES!!! He will be signing his book, How to Love Wine; A Memoir and Manifesto. Referred to as “America’s most trusted wine critic”, Eric is the man to talk to about all-things wine related. And he’ll be here…on Hilton Head Island…with you! How cool is that?
And then Saturday – the culmination of the week with the Public Tasting at Historic Honey Horn – the largest outdoor tented festival on the East Coast. Gray Goose Bartenders Challenge, Cooking Demonstrations, Sea Glass Wines Waiters Race, and Lowcountry favorite, Cranford Hollow on the big stage. This IS the most fun one-day adult event on Hilton Head Island! The food, the wine and the friendship! Click here for a list of restaurants on-site that day and retailers too.
