Dear Friends –
Quick email to start the week re: a few things I am watching!
? ? ? ? 278 Corridor Committee
Update. Last Wednesday, the 278 Corridor Committee voted to not advance any of the six SCDOT options. Well done for our Island. Instead, they will look at the “pain-points” (my word, not theirs) and come up with solutions that align with the committees previously established guiding principals. The next meeting will be this Thursday, the 16th at 4pm.
? Exploring The Future Of Tourism
The Chamber/Visitor and Convention Bureau will host a tourism workshop this Wednesday, January 15th at USCB-Hilton Head Island for the public. This workshop is designed to gather input from people who live OR work on the Island to shape the 10-year destination management roadmap. This roadmap has two VERY important factors 1) to ensure the growth of the tourism industry and 2) to preserve the quality of life on our Island. I encourage every member of the community to attend and be a voice for our Island. Please spread the word. RSVP’s are encouraged here.
????? It’s MLK Celebration Week!
The week of MLK events is always an excellent start to the year and the 2020 schedule is no different. Our family always enjoys the walk, community choir, service awards, and luncheon on Monday at Hilton Head Island High School. View all events here. Most events are free – with the exception of the Black Excellence Ball – honoring best in category businesses and non-profits. Congrats to the planning committee of community leaders, Faquita Aiken, Galen Miller, Bridgette Frazier, and Lavon Stevens, just to name a few.
? Looking ahead, make sure to mark your calendar for History and High Tea – Historical Wonder Women of Hilton Head Island, January 29th at the South Carolina Yacht Club, presented by The Heritage Library. See flyer below!
Thanks for reading and clicking, I hope to see you tonight at FISH in Coligny for the National Championship – GO Clemson!
