Dear Friends – Photos and links to content below.
First off, congrats to Mike and Jean and the entire Outside Hilton Head crew for what I heard was an awesome event today over on Page Island to benefit the Outside Foundation! They were able to pull off such an epic event (you have to haul EVERYTHING out to Page) right before the weather hit and all for a great cause. Nice job Outside team.
Island High Light = Lantern ? – see what I did there? Nope not a typo 😉
This week in the spirit of Mardi Gras + Parades, I wanted to chat about a new event coming to our Island, a Lantern Parade!
Now to my pun and an explanation of a Lantern Parade! Best way I can describe it – an illuminated parade of people, that takes place at night, holding large-scale lanterns, specifically created to showcase their passion!
This is a great way to show Island spirit and highlight (yep, did it again) our special community, our organizations and businesses. The event is being led by the Office of Cultural Affairs and they are working with a lantern parade guru from Atlanta. She will be in Town later this week and a free brown-bag lunch and learn to review the event intricacies will be held at the new USCB Hilton Head Campus on Friday, March 8th. You can register for the conversation this Friday here (seating is limited) or check out the website and get in touch with OCA for more information.

Finally, a few weeks ago I told you about ? filming ? for Jake Lopko who recently completed his Eagle Scout Project and I wanted to share the finished product. I hope you enjoy viewing the video as much as we enjoyed producing it and I’ll keep you updated to the National Eagle Scout Award. Special thanks to my good friend Gustavo Rattia who pulled the pieces together. Please check it out here – I think it’s really meaningful.
