Dear Friends –
Last week was awesome as our Hilton Head community experienced a labyrinth interactive beach art design in Sea Pines, the celebration of Community Foundation turning 25 years old, and so many fun Halloween activities! Plus, the 70th birthday of my dear friend, Mr. Ben Green.
Here are a few things I wanted to share as we kicked off a new week!
? Don’t Miss This Incredible Panel Honoring Pat Conroy
In my home state of Hawaii, we have a saying “talk story” – it’s when we sit down together and tell stories, oftentimes about larger than life characters.
This Wednesday, legendary storytellers of Beaufort County are all gathering on one stage for one night at Coligny Theatre to “talk story” – sharing their moments of the famous local author, Pat Conroy. Rare and personal, this is a night we’ll be talking about for years to come. Tickets here.
?Ella C. White Memorial Scholarship Dinner
Tickets are still available for the Ella C. White Memorial Dinner at the Sonesta this Friday night. This annual event named after Ms. White, a former math teacher, is now in its 28th year! The dinner raises money for scholarships for college-bound students from Hilton Head Island and Bluffton High School. This year the featured speaker is Lee Gill, Chief Diversity Officer and Special Assistant to the President for Inclusive Excellence at Clemson. Ticket link here.
? The Best Music Lineup Our Island Has Ever Seen 🙂
This Saturday brings CharliFest at Coligny, a celebration of the life of lsland girl, Charli Bobinchuck. This annual event will feature over 20 bands and local music artists. Food will be available from Coligny restaurants, along with an auction, hula hooping, face painting and other activities. $10 at the door (cash only) and donations will be accepted. Funds raised go toward the Naturalist Program through Community Foundation to continue sharing Charli’s love for our Island critters. View our facebook event here.
Check out this interview with Matt Stock and Sonie Johnson with awesome details about the event.
? “Access: Who Has It?”
Also on Saturday, this forum from Mitchelville looks at the issues revolving around historic and contemporary access in 21st Century America. More here.
